Productive BINGO!

I suck at getting things done. I want to be productive, but I’m just bad at it. There, I said it. I’m the type of person with dozens of half-finished projects and impulsively-bought hobby items that I swore I would actually use, but end up inevitably forgotten in a drawer somewhere. I’m sure you can relate. Aren’t you supposed to be doing something else right now?

I find that by making my goals more like a game, I become more likely to actually finish them. Thus, I’ve made myself a bingo sheet of some thing I had meant to complete in the past but never got around to.

B-I-N-G-O!

And Bingo was his name-o!

I used Bingo Baker to make this card. You wouldn’t believe how many shitty bingo card maker sites that require log-in or purchase are out there, but this one was sufficient.

Anyway, here are my goals in list form:

  1. Learn a song on piano
  2. Draw a fox every day
  3. Make homemade pizza
  4. Draw a sticker
  5. Self-publish a book
  6. Update CSS for blog
  7. Create a 3D game object in Blender
  8. Mod a video game
  9. Clean and organize the apartment
  10. Make a video game for Max 🙂
  11. Creating a quilling card
  12. Make an educational video
  13. Finish 2022: A Sauce Odyssey
  14. Make macarons
  15. Tie-dye a shirt
  16. Draw bonfire tattoo idea
  17. Convert alinda.dev to use Flask
  18. Write a simple 4 chord song
  19. Work on a fun Spring project
  20. Develop an Android app
  21. Paint a miniature
  22. Finish Journey to the West
  23. Finish Dark Souls 2
  24. Finish a book
  25. Wild Card – Choose your own goal for the week!

So, I won’t be playing bingo the same way it’s traditionally played. I will be using a random number generator to generate a number 1-5 for B-I-N-G-O, respectively, and then another number 1-5 for each row (from top to bottom). Repeats will be re-rolled.

I will give myself a limit of 1-2 weeks to complete a task, and will write a post to detail my efforts.

For each “Bingo!” I get, I’m going to take a page from Tom and Donna’s book to “TREAT YO’SELF” by rewarding myself with something nice. I haven’t finished creating a list of rewards for myself yet, but I’ll update this post once I do. It’ll take at least 5 weeks minimum to get a bingo anyway.

As I am currently out-of-town, there may be some tasks I can’t complete. Should that be the case, I will save the task for the following week (or push it further should I still be blocked in some way).

First Draw

Anyway, let’s see what my first call is! From the generator, I got a 4 (G) and a 1. Our first task is to Finish a book. Ah, well that’s unfortunate because I wanted to read one of the physical books I had at my apartment. I’m going to save this for when I get back in a couple of weeks and re-roll.

Next result – 3 (N), 4. Make a video game for Max! Ooh this one should be fun. 🙂 I’m not sure about what sort of art assets I should use as I don’t have my tablet with me, so making art will be a bitch, but I suppose I can always use free assets.

Here’s my next post to detail out the game.

Hope I can stick to this!
